I find it absolutely incredible that for a relatively small amount of money DARPA managed to push robotics technology forward so significantly in such a small amount of time.
Isn’t interesting that the actual companies that provide robotics to the DoD failed miserably? Granted CMU is no stranger to Defence contracts, but still the companies at the supposed forefront of the industry failed miserably and the academics pushed forward and changed the game.
