HP TX1000Z Ubuntu 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) sound made easy!

Install the linux-backports modules through synaptic, then append “options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=hp
” to your /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.

I installed all the backports found in synaptic, because I had a hunch that somewhere in there were the alsa-drivers with the HP support. My guess payed off, but since I brute-forced it I don’t know which backports it was. If you feel like figuring out it and do, drop a comment for posterity
